
IISER Admissions 2023
Overview
The Joint Admissions Committee 2023 will conduct centralized counselling for admissions to 5-year BS-MS Degree programmes of Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research and 4-year BS programmes at IISER Bhopal.

Admissions will be done through:
- Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Channel
- Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) Channel
- IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) Channel
Modes of Admission
KVPY Channel
- Admission for candidates having a valid KVPY fellowship.
JEE Advanced Channel
- Admission is based on the JEE (Advanced) rank.

Eligibility
KVPY Channel
- Candidates having a valid KVPY-SA-2021 fellowship are eligible to apply for admissions.
- Additional class XII marks cutoff criteria is applicable. Candidates need to obtain a minimum of 60% marks (GEN/EWS/OBC-NCL) or 55% marks (SC/ST/PwD) in their Class XII examination.
- A candidate who has been admitted earlier to any of the IISERs, or who previously accepted a seat in any of the IISERs but did not join, or whose admission to any of the IISERs was cancelled after joining, is not eligible.
JEE Channel
- Candidates in the General category securing a rank within 15,000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced 2023 are eligible to apply.
- Candidates who belong to the reserved category (OBC (NC), SC, ST, PD) must secure a respective category rank within 15,000.

- Additional class XII marks cutoff criteria is applicable. Candidates need to obtain a minimum of 60% marks (GEN/EWS/OBC-NCL) or 55% marks (SC/ST/PwD) in their Class XII examination.
- A candidate who has been admitted earlier to any of the IISERs, or who previously accepted a seat in any of the IISERs but did not join, or whose admission to any of the IISERs was cancelled after joining, is not eligible.
IAT Channel
- Students who have passed (10+2) level with science stream in 2022 or 2023 with at least three subjects among Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.
- Class XII Performance criteria: Candidates need to obtain a minimum of 60% marks (GEN/EWS/OBC-NCL) or 55% marks (SC/ST/PwD) in their Class XII examination.
- Students applying through the IAT channel will have to appear in the IISER Aptitude Test.
- A candidate who has been admitted earlier to any of the IISERs, or who previously accepted a seat in any of the IISERs but did not join, or whose admission to any of the IISERs was cancelled after joining, is not eligible.
Seat Distribution
- A maximum of 25% of the seats will be allocated through KVPY and JEE Advanced channels.
- The remaining seats will be filled through the IAT channel based on the merit in the IISER aptitude test.
- Unfilled seats from KVPY and JEE channels will also be added to the IAT channel for allotment.

Application Fee
The registration fee for IISER Admissions 2023 is as follows:

Note: Each channel requires a separate online application and payment of application fees.
Registration
- The registrations for IISER Admissions 2023 will begin from April 15, 2023 for IAT and KVPY Channel and will begin from June 25, 2023 for JEE Channel.
- The last date to register is May 25, 2023 for IAT and KVPY Channel and June 30, 2023 for JEE Channel.
Application Procedure
Steps
- Interested candidates need to visit the IISER Admission website and register with a valid email address.
- Fill in the basic details and upload a self photograph in the registration form.
- If applying through the IAT channel, enter the subject-wise marks in the prescribed form (name of the subject, marks obtained out of maximum marks).
- Pay the application fees online.
- Download a copy of the application for future reference.
Note
- Candidates can apply through more than one channel provided the candidate meets eligibility criteria.
- Each channel requires a separate online application and payment of application fees.
Application Correction
- Once the candidate has submitted the application, no information contained in the application form can be changed.
Filling-in of Choices
- Candidates need to provide their choice preferences in the online application form.
- Candidates should have passed/appearing in the Class XII examination in the science stream either in 2021 or 2022 and also satisfy the eligibility criteria.
- Candidates who want to fill the 4-year BS Programme choice should have Mathematics as one of the subjects in the class XII examination.
- It is important for candidates to carefully prioritise the academic programs while filling in the choices.
Seat Allotment
The seat allotment is based on:
- Availability of seats in respective IISERs
- Candidate’s rank in the merit list
- Candidate’s preferences
Seat Acceptance
- If a candidate has been allotted a seat in any of the IISERs, the candidate needs to pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (within the due date) to accept the Admission offer and confirm that the candidate intends to join.
- The Seat Acceptance Fee is ₹35,000 for General/EWS/OBC-NC/KM category candidates and ₹17,500 for SC/ST/PwD category candidates.
- The seat acceptance fee will be adjusted against the 1st-Semester fee by the admitting institute.
Acceptance Options
Freeze
Candidates accept the offered seat and indicate that they are content with the allocated academic program and that they do not want to participate in further rounds of seat allocation. Such candidates will NOT be considered in subsequent rounds of admission.
Float
Candidates accept the offered seat and indicate that, if admission to an academic program of better/higher preference in any Institute is offered, they will accept it. Else, they will continue with the currently accepted academic program. Such candidates will be considered in subsequent rounds of admission.
Withdraw
- A candidate, who has already accepted a seat allotted by JAC, can withdraw the seat through the application portal before the stipulated date (to be notified soon).
- There is no cancellation fee if withdrawal is made by the candidate within this time.
Refund Policy
- If a candidate withdraws from the IISER system before the final withdrawal date (to be notified soon), the SAF will be refunded after a deduction of Rs. 10,000 (Rs. 5,000 for SC, ST, PWD and KM).
- If a candidate withdraws from the IISER system after the final withdrawal date (to be notified soon), the withdrawal and refund rules of the admitting IISER will apply.
Important Information
Each channel requires a separate online application and payment of application fees. You must meet the eligibility criteria for each channel through which you wish to apply.
