Overview
Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination (UPSEE) was previously conducted by Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow, for admission to government, government-aided, and private unaided institutions affiliated to the University or other state universities of Uttar Pradesh.
From the academic session 2022-23, the UPSEE entrance examination has been discontinued. It has been replaced by national-level exams like JEE Main for B.Tech., NATA for B.Arch., and CUET for other undergraduate courses.

NEW: 20% of the total sanctioned seats for admission to the first year of all courses in all institutions affiliated with AKTU shall be open to all candidates, including those from outside Uttar Pradesh. These seats will be filled based on the JEE Main merit.

NOTE: No entrance exam will be conducted by Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University. Admissions to various courses will be done based on the performance in respective National Level Exams.

Eligibility
For B.Tech
- Candidates must have passed the 10+2 level examination or its equivalent examination.
- Candidates must have passed, without grace, the compulsory subjects (Physics & Mathematics) and one optional subject (Chemistry/ Bio-Technology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subject).
- Candidates must have secured an aggregate of 45% (40% for SC/ST candidates) in the above-mentioned three subjects.
- Admissions will be based on the JEE (Main) Paper-1 rank through UPTAC counselling.
For B.Tech. (Bio-Technology)
- Candidates must have passed the 10+2 level examination or its equivalent examination.
- Candidates must have passed, without grace, the compulsory subjects (Physics & Mathematics/Biology) and one optional subject (Chemistry/ Bio-Technology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subject).
- Candidates must have secured an aggregate of 45% (40% for SC/ST candidates) in the above-mentioned three subjects.
- Admissions will be based on the CUET-UG rank through UPTAC counselling.
For B.Tech. (Agriculture Engineering)
- Candidates must have passed the 10+2 level examination or its equivalent examination with Physics & Chemistry or in the Agriculture stream.
- Candidates must have secured an aggregate of 45% (40% for SC/ST candidates).
- Admissions will be based on the CUET-UG rank through UPTAC counselling.
For B.Arch.
- Candidates must have passed the 10+2 level examination or its equivalent examination.
- Candidates must have passed, without grace, the compulsory subjects (Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics).
- Candidates must have secured an aggregate of 50% and at least 50% marks in each of the compulsory subjects.
- Admissions will be based on the NATA score through UPTAC counselling.
For B.Pharm.
- Candidates must have passed the 10+2 level examination or its equivalent examination.
- Candidates must have passed, without grace, the compulsory subjects (Physics & Chemistry) and one optional subject (Mathematics/ Biology).
- Admissions will be based on the CUET-UG rank through UPTAC counselling.
Syllabus

Fees
No entrance exam will be conducted by AKTU. Admissions will be based on national-level exams through UPTAC counselling. The application fee for UPTAC counselling is ₹1,000.
Registration
- The registrations for the respective National Level examinations will begin as per their schedule.
- Candidates need to register for UPTAC counselling. Registrations are expected to start in June 2025.
Application Procedure
Procedure
- Candidates need to visit the UPTAC counselling website and choose a password while filling up the online application. After successful submission of the data, an application number will be generated, which will be used for subsequent logins.
- Once the candidate has registered, he/she is required to upload scanned images of his/her photograph and signature.
- The candidate is then required to pay the examination fee, which can be done via credit card, debit card, or net banking.
- Once the payment is done, a confirmation page will be generated. Candidates are advised to save it for future reference.
Application Correction
- Candidates will be provided with the facility to make corrections in their application form particulars.
- This is a one-time facility extended to candidates to avoid any hardship.
- The correction facility will be available once it is notified.
Test Centres
NOTE: No entrance exam will be conducted by AKTU. Admissions to the B.Tech. course will be based on performance in JEE Main Paper-1, and admissions to the B.Arch. course will be based on performance in NATA.

Admissions
Overview
- 100% of the seats in all courses in the first year for Government/ Government Aided/ Government Self-Financed Institutes will be filled by candidates qualified in the respective National Level Tests.
- 85% of the seats in all courses for private colleges will be filled by candidates qualified in the respective National Level Tests.
- 15% of the total sanctioned seats available in Private Institutions will be filled through the Management quota/ NRI candidates.
- 20% of the total sanctioned seats for admission in the first year of all courses in all institutions affiliated to AKTU will be open to all candidates, including those from outside Uttar Pradesh. These seats will be filled based on the merit of the respective National Level Test.
Categories
UPGE
- Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from an institution located in the state of Uttar Pradesh and do not belong to any reserved category are eligible for admission to all courses at all institutions against the available General (OPEN) seats.
UPSC / UPST / UPBC
- Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from an institution located in the state of Uttar Pradesh, are domiciled in Uttar Pradesh, and belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), or Other Backward Classes (OBC) of Uttar Pradesh are eligible for admission against the available reserved seats of their category.
UPGD
- Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from an institution located outside Uttar Pradesh, whose parents are domiciled in Uttar Pradesh, and who have not claimed any reserved category, are also eligible for admission to courses offered at all institutions under the General (OPEN) category.
- Such a candidate must produce the domicile certificate of his/her parents (Father OR Mother only) at the time of counselling.
GDSC / GDST / GDBC
- Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from an institution located outside Uttar Pradesh, whose parents are domiciled in Uttar Pradesh, and who belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), or Other Backward Classes (OBC) of Uttar Pradesh are also eligible for admission against the reserved seats of their category.
- Such candidates must produce the domicile certificate of their parents (Father OR Mother only) and the Category Certificate at the time of counselling.
GDDA
- The domicile requirement for the son/daughter is relaxed for Defence personnel settled in Uttar Pradesh on the date of the Entrance Examination after retirement, being disabled in action, or Defence personnel killed in action, and their dependents settled in Uttar Pradesh on the date of the Entrance Examination.
- The domicile requirement for the son/daughter is relaxed for Defence personnel who are not domiciled in Uttar Pradesh but are posted in Uttar Pradesh on the date of the Entrance Examination.
- The domicile requirement for the son/daughter is relaxed for employees of All India Services belonging to the Uttar Pradesh cadre.
OSGE
- Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from an institution located outside Uttar Pradesh and whose parents are NOT domiciled in Uttar Pradesh.
- Such candidates, along with candidates from other categories, shall be considered only against 20 percent of the sanctioned intake of the first year in Technology/Architecture courses in private institutions affiliated to AKTU.
