Overview

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board conducts West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE), a Common Entrance Examination in offline mode (paper based examination) for admission to different Undergraduate Courses in Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy and Architecture in Universities, Government Colleges as well as Self Financed Institutes in the State of West Bengal.

Pattern

  • It’s a paper based examination.
  • There will be three categories of questions in each subject.
  • Answers are to be marked (bubbled) using only blue/black ball point pen on the OMR Answer Sheet.

Question Category 1

  • Only one option is correct.
  • Correct option will yield 1 (one) mark.
  • Incorrect option will yield -¼ (negative ¼) marks.
  • For any combination of more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield -¼ (negative ¼) marks.
  • Not attempting the question will fetch zero marks.

 

Question Category 2

  • Only one option is correct.
  • Correct option will yield 2 (two) mark.
  • Incorrect option will yield -½ (negative ½) marks.
  • For any combination of more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield -½ (negative ½) marks.
  • Not attempting the question will fetch zero marks.

 

Question Category 3

  • One or more options are correct.
  • Marking all correct options only will yield 2 (two) marks.
  • For any combination of answers containing one or more incorrect options, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and it will yield zero (0) mark.
  • For partially correct answers, i.e. when all correct options are not marked and also no incorrect options is marked, marks awarded = 2 X (no of correct options marked) / (total no of actually correct options).
  • Not attempting the question will fetch zero marks.

Eligibility

For appearing in the WBJEE

Citizenship

  • Applicant must be a citizen of India.

Age

  • Candidates must be at least 17 (seventeen) years of age as on 31.12.2018.
  • There is no upper age limit for appearing in WBJEE though for admission to the degree level Marine Engineering Course, it should be 25 Years as on 31.12.2018.

For Admissions

For admission to Engineering courses

  • Candidate must have passed the Qualifying Examination (10+2 examination) with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application as compulsory subjects.
  • Candidate must have passed these three subjects individually.
  • Must have obtained at least 45% marks (40% for ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) in the these three subjects taken together.

Requirement of Domicile

  • There is no particular Residential/Domicile requirement to appear in the WBJEE.
  • For admission to any Government Engineering / Technology / Pharmacy Colleges of the State as well as for admission to any reserved category of seats, Residential / Domicile is required.

Fees

Rs. 500 + bank’s service charges

Application Procedure

  1. The aspiring candidate should furnish all the details while filling up the Online Application.
  2. Upload the required documents as applicable for different categories (in JPG format).
  3. The candidate can pay Examination Fee by Net Banking/Debit/Credit card or by Allahabad Bank e-Challan.
  4. A confirmation page will be generated which means that candidate has been successfully registered. The candidate should take a printout and preserve the confirmation page for future reference.

Admit Card

  • Admit cards will be generated on April 10, 2018 for the students to download and take a print.
  • A printed copy of the downloaded admit card should be produced at the time of examination.

Answer Keys / Result

  • The Model Answer Keys will be published shortly after the examination.
  • Challenges of the model answer keys will be accepted on-line on payment of ₹500 per question plus the bank’s service charges. The fee once paid is non-refundable.
  • Final result will be published in the form of Rank Card, which will contain all relevant ranks, total score and component scores in Paper-I (Mathematics) and Paper-II (Physics & Chemistry).

Counselling

  • A separate notification with details of e-counseling/seat allotment and admission will be published on WBJEE website shortly after publication of result.

Important Information

  • Candidates must bring Downloaded Admit Card, One copy of photograph, Any photo identity card and Black / Blue Ball Point Pen.
  • Written or printed material, calculator, pen, log table, wristwatch, any communication device like mobile phones etc. are not allowed in the Examination Hall.
