Pattern
- The exam will be a pen-and-paper-based examination.
- All questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
- There will be three categories of questions in each subject.
- Answers must be marked (bubbled) using only a blue or black ballpoint pen on the OMR Answer Sheet.

- Only one option is correct.
- The correct option will yield 1 mark.
- An incorrect option will yield -¼ (negative ¼) marks.
- Any combination of more than one option will be treated as incorrect and will yield -¼ (negative ¼) marks.
- Not attempting a question will result in zero marks.
Question Category 2
- Only one option is correct.
- The correct option will yield 2 marks.
- An incorrect option will yield -½ (negative ½) marks.
- Any combination of more than one option will be treated as incorrect and will yield -½ (negative ½) marks.
- Not attempting a question will result in zero marks.
Question Category 3
- One or more options are correct.
- Marking all correct options will yield 2 marks.
- Any combination of answers containing one or more incorrect options will be treated as incorrect and will yield zero marks.
- For partially correct answers, i.e., when not all correct options are marked and no incorrect option is marked, marks awarded = 2 × (number of correct options marked) / (total number of correct options).
- Not attempting a question will result in zero marks.

Eligibility
For appearing in the WBJEE
- Citizenship: The applicant must be a citizen of India or an Overseas Citizen of India.
- Qualifying Examination: Candidates must have passed or be appearing in 2025 for the class 12th examination or its equivalent.
- Age: Candidates must be at least 17 years of age as on December 31, 2025. There is no upper age limit for appearing in WBJEE, though for admission to the degree-level Marine Engineering Course, the upper age limit is 25 years as on December 31, 2025.
For Admissions
- The candidate must have passed the Qualifying Examination (10+2 examination) with Physics and Mathematics, along with any one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, Computer Application, or a Technical Vocational Subject as compulsory subjects.
- The candidate must have passed these three subjects individually.
- The candidate must have obtained at least 45% marks (40% for ST, SC, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) in these three subjects taken together.
- The candidate must also have passed English in the Qualifying Examination with at least 30% marks.
- Candidates must satisfy additional eligibility requirements for admission to Jadavpur University and University of Calcutta. Read more here.
- For the Marine Engineering course, candidates must secure a minimum of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics taken together, and a minimum of 50% marks in English.
- For the Architecture course, candidates must secure a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics combined, along with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Class XII. Candidates must also qualify in the NATA.
Domicile of West Bengal
Domicile Requirement
There is no particular Residential/Domicile requirement to appear in the WBJEE. However, the candidate must be a domicile of West Bengal for the following cases:
- For admission to any Government-aided Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy Colleges of the State.
- For admission to any Reserved category of seats in any institute.
- For admission to 90% of the General category seats at Jadavpur University.
- For admission at Aliah University for all seats.
Domicile Eligibility
Candidates will be treated as domiciles of West Bengal if they fulfill any of the following criteria:
- Candidates residing in West Bengal continuously for at least the last 10 years as of December 31, 2024 (Pro forma A1 or A2 required).
- Candidates whose parent(s) is/are permanent resident(s) of West Bengal, with a permanent address within the State of West Bengal (Pro forma B or Residential proof required).

Registration
- The registrations for WBJEE 2025 examination began on January 22, 2025.
- The last date to apply is February 23, 2025.

Application Procedure
Steps
- Candidates need to visit the WBJEE website and register by furnishing all the required details in the Online Application.
- Upload the scanned image of your recent color photograph and signature (in JPG format).
- Pay the Examination Fee online using Net Banking/ Debit Card/ Credit Card/ UPI.
- A confirmation page will be generated, which means that the candidate has been successfully registered.
- The candidate should take a printout and preserve the confirmation page for future reference.
Note
- The candidate is required to produce a copy of the same photograph as uploaded online to enter the examination centre and later during counseling.
Application Correction
- Candidates will be provided with a facility to make corrections in their application form particulars.
- It is a one-time facility extended to candidates to avoid any hardship.
- Candidates will be able to correct the data filled in the application form, except for primary registration details such as Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Gender, Domicile, and Date of Birth.
- The correction window will be open for a few days after the last date of registration.

Note
- The examination centre will be allocated based on the choices provided by the candidate during the online form fill-up.
- Candidates from West Bengal, Assam, and Tripura must select three zones in order of preference.
- Candidates from states other than West Bengal, Assam, and Tripura must select three zones from Kolkata, Howrah, Paschim Burdwan, and Paschim Medinipur in order of preference.
- No requests for a change of the allocated centre will be entertained under normal circumstances.
Admit Card
- Admit cards are expected to be generated for students to download and print after it is notified.
- A printed copy of the downloaded admit card must be produced at the time of the examination.
Answer Keys
- The Model Answer Keys will be published shortly after the examination.
- Challenges to the model answer keys will be accepted online through the WBJEE portal, with a fee of ₹500 per question plus the bank’s service charges. The fee once paid is non-refundable.
- The Board will review the challenges and publish the final, frozen Answer Keys.
- Additionally, the images of OMR sheets and machine-read responses will be uploaded on the WBJEE website two to three weeks after the examination. Candidates will be able to view their OMR images and machine-read responses.
- Candidates who are not satisfied with the captured responses can challenge them online through the WBJEE portal, with a fee of ₹500 per question plus the bank’s service charges. The fee once paid is non-refundable.
Result
- The final result will be published in the form of a Rank Card, which will include the overall rank, total score, and component scores for Paper-I (Mathematics) and Paper-II (Physics and Chemistry).
- Rank cards with scores will be issued to all candidates who appeared for the examination.
- Ranks will be allotted only to those candidates who meet the cut-off score decided by the WBJEE board.
Counselling
- A list of General Merit Rank (GMR) will be prepared based on the total score obtained in Paper-I and Paper-II combined.
- Counseling and seat allotment will be done based on the General Merit Rank (GMR) through WBJEE counseling.
- A separate notification with details of e-counseling, seat allotment, and admission will be published on the WBJEE website shortly after the result is announced.
- Seats will be available for students listed in JEE (Main) 2025, up to 10% of the approved seats in all Self-Financed Engineering and Technology Colleges of West Bengal.
Important Information
- Candidates are advised to reach the examination center at least 30 minutes before the test begins.
- Candidates must bring a printed copy of the downloaded Admit Card, one copy of the photograph uploaded with the application, a valid photo ID, and a black/blue ballpoint pen.
- Written or printed materials, calculators, pens, log tables, wristwatches, and any communication devices, such as mobile phones, are not allowed in the examination hall.
