Overview
Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET) is a prominent privately managed engineering institution located in Patiala, established in 1956. The institute offers B.Tech. and International Engineering Course, with admissions through institutional level counselling.

Modes of Admission
- JEE Main Mode: For admission to all programmes. Admission through JEE (Main) All India Rank.
- Class 12th Mode (PCM): For admission to non-CS programmes. Admissions will be based on the merit of marks secured in 10+2 in the aggregate of three subjects: Physics, Mathematics, and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or a Technical Vocational subject.
- Class 12th Mode (PCB): For admission to bio-related programmes. Admissions will be based on the merit of marks secured in 10+2 in the aggregate of three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
- NEET Mode: For admission to bio-related programmes. Admission through NEET All India Rank.
- Direct Mode: For admission to selected programmes. Admission will be offered by the institute subject to seat availability.

Eligibility
- Entrance Examination: The candidate must have appeared for JEE (Main) 2025 conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
- Qualifying Examination: The candidate must have passed the 10+2 examination in 2023, 2024, or must be appearing in 2025.
- Minimum Marks: The candidate must secure at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) in the aggregate of three subjects (Physics, Mathematics, and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or Technical Vocational subject) in the class 12th examination.

Criteria of Selection
- JEE Main Mode: Admissions will be based on the All India Rank of JEE (Main) – 2025 Examination, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
- Class 12th Mode (PCM): Admissions will be based on the merit of marks secured in the 10+2 or equivalent examination in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics, and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, and Technical Vocational subjects.
- Class 12th Mode (PCB): Admissions will be based on the merit of marks secured in the 10+2 or equivalent examination in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
- NEET Mode: Admissions will be based on the All India Rank of the NEET 2025 Examination.
- Direct Mode: Direct Admissions will be offered in selected programmes.
Vacant reserved category seats will be filled by General category candidates based on merit in the final round of in-person counselling. If a SC seat is vacant, it will be offered to an ST candidate, or vice versa, before being converted to General category.
Application Fee
The prescribed registration fee for TIET Patiala Application Form is ₹1500.
Candidates can apply later with a higher registration fee:

Registration
- The registration for TIET Patiala Admissions will close on
May 8, 2025May 11, 2025 for Round 1. - Candidates shall be eligible for all modes of admission and need not submit two separate application forms. The application form submitted by the candidate shall be considered for all modes.
- Candidates can apply later with a higher registration fee:

How to Apply
Procedure
- Visit the Thapar Admissions website to apply.
- Fill in your details and create an account to get your Username and Password.
- Log in using your “Username” and “Password”.
- Complete the Personal Details and Academic Details sections, and select your program preferences.
- Pay the Application Fee either via the Payment Gateway (online) or Demand Draft (offline).
- Save your application for future reference.
Notes
- If the Application Fee is paid Online: Candidates are not required to send a printout of the application form, but must present it during document verification at the “In-person” counselling.
- If the Application Fee is paid through DD: Send the printout of the completed application along with the Demand Draft for the required amount in favor of “Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology”, payable at Patiala, to “In-charge Admission Cell, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala (Punjab) – 147004” before the submission deadline.
Counselling
- There will be multiple rounds of seat allotment during the Online Counselling process.
- The branch preference order, once filled in the application form, cannot be changed during online counselling. However, during In-Person counselling, candidates will have the option to submit a fresh preference order for subsequent counselling rounds.

Fee Waivers
Meritorious students applying for admission to Biomedical, Chemical, Civil with Computer Applications, Civil, Electrical, Electronics – Instrumentation and Control, and Mechatronics branches are eligible for the following fee waivers:
- 30% Tuition fee waiver for students with a PCM score of 80% or higher.
- 20% Tuition fee waiver for students with a PCM score of 75% to 79.99%.
The waiver will continue if the student maintains an AGPA of 8.5 or higher each academic year.
Scholarship
