MET 2023: B.Tech. Counselling Details

Overview

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has released the counselling details for Manipal Entrance Test 2023 (MET 2023). The admission counselling will begin on June 14, 2023.

The seat allocation in Manipal counselling will be done based on the All India Rank (AIR) in MET 2023. The counselling is common for Manipal Institute of Technology, MIT Bengaluru Campus, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, and Manipal University Jaipur.

Candidates can select the campus and branch of their choice at the time of counselling based on the MET 2023 rank, subject to seat availability.

The rank list for B.Tech Common Counselling 2023 was prepared based on the best of the percentile scores obtained in MET 2023 examination.

Eligibility

Entrance Examination

  • The candidate must have appeared for MET 2023 to be eligible for admission.

Qualifying Examination

  • Candidates must have passed in the HSC/12th Standard examination or its equivalent examination from a recognized board with Physics, Mathematics, and English as compulsory subjects.
  • Candidate should have obtained a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Mathematics and one of the optional subjects mentioned below. In each of these subjects, candidates should have scored at least minimum marks prescribed by the board.
  • The optional subject must belong to the Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical and Mechanical domains.

Counselling Location

All counselling rounds will be held online and candidates are not required to report at any counselling center, read MET Counselling Rounds.

Counselling Procedure

  • There will be five rounds of counselling, including one Intra-Institute Sliding Round and one Spot Round.
  • All the rounds will be held online.
  • Fresh Registration is allowed at the beginning of each round (except for Intra Institute round).
  • The admission will be done based on the candidate’s All India Rank (AIR) in the entrance examination (Manipal Entrance Test) and the availability of seats.
  • Candidates will have to confirm their participation in the counselling process by logging into the MET Counselling portal and updating the profile details with Marks obtained in Qualifying examination.
  • On completion of data entry in the candidate’s profile, candidates must pay the Waitlist Deposit of Rs.10,000 which will be adjusted upon seat allotment.
  • Candidates will be eligible to participate in the Online Counseling process after making the payment for Waitlist Deposit.
  • On seat allotment, candidates need to deposit the 1st Installment of Rs. 1,65,000 before the stipulated deadline else the candidate will be out of the counseling process and the waitlist deposit of Rs. 10,000 will also be forfeited.

Counselling Rounds

Round 1 (Online)

Registration

  • Candidates will have to confirm their participation in the counselling process by logging into the MET Counselling portal and updating the profile details with Marks obtained in Qualifying examination.
  • On completion of data entry in the candidate’s profile, candidates must pay the Waitlist Deposit of Rs.10,000 which will be adjusted upon seat allotment.
  • Candidates will be eligible to participate in the Online Counseling process after making the payment for Waitlist Deposit.

Choice Filling

  • After making payment of Rs.10,000, the candidate will be eligible to participate in the Online Counseling process.
  • Eligible Candidates can fill/modify and save their choices in the order of their preferences, any number of times before the deadline for locking of choices.
  • Candidates are advised to fill in the choices (institutes and branches) of their interest only.
  • Candidates are advised to check the correctness of filled choices by clicking the “Print” button and save the file for reference.

Seat Allotment

  • The seat will be allotted as per the MET 2023 Rank and subject to seat availability.
  • On seat allotment, the candidates are required to pay Rs. 1,65,000 as 1st Installment before the last date specified for payment for each round.
  • If the candidate fails to pay the 1st Installment on or before the stipulated deadline, the candidate will be out of the counselling process and will also forfeit the waitlist deposit of Rs. 10,000.
  • Provisional Admission order and receipt/s for the payment made will be given to the candidate on completion of the part payment.
  • Having made the part payment of Rs. 1,65,000 (1st Installment) and chosen the seat of interest, the candidate is expected to make the balance fee payment of Rs. 1,60,000 (2nd Installment) on or before the stipulated deadline.
  • If the candidate fails to pay the 2nd Installment on or before the stipulated deadline, the candidate’s seat will be forfeited, and the candidate will be out of the counseling process. Refunds will be made as per Refund Policy.
  • Candidates should report to the allotted college on or before the Reporting date mentioned in the Provisional Admission order.

Waitlist

  • Registered candidates who have not been allotted any seat in the previous round OR admitted candidates who wish to upgrade are eligible for the waitlist.
  • Candidates who have got a seat in the previous round and wish to participate in subsequent round(s) of counselling, can opt for waitlist without additional payment.
  • Registered candidates who have not got the seat in the previous round can opt for the waitlist. In case the candidate is not allotted any seat in any rounds of counseling, the waitlist deposit of Rs. 10,000 will be refunded within 1 month of completion of all rounds of Counseling.

Opt-Out

  • Provisionally Admitted Candidates: If a provisionally admitted candidate is satisfied with the seat allotted in any of the rounds and does not want to participate in the subsequent rounds, he/she has to opt-out of the counseling.
  • In such a case, the allotted seat will be retained and the candidate will not be eligible to participate in the subsequent rounds of counseling.
  • If the provisionally admitted candidate does not opt-out, the choices provided will be considered for subsequent rounds for up-gradation as per the vacancy. If the seat is upgraded in the subsequent rounds, the candidate has to accept it and he/she has no choice of retaining the previously allotted seat.
  • Un-Allotted Candidates: If a candidate is not allotted any seat in any of the rounds and does not want to participate in the subsequent rounds, he/she has to opt-out of the counseling.
  • In such a case, the candidate will not be eligible to participate in the subsequent rounds of counseling and the waitlist deposit of Rs. 10,000 will be refunded back to the candidate.
  • If the un-allotted candidate does not opt-out, the choices provided will be considered for subsequent rounds for up-gradation as per the vacancy. If the seat gets allotted in the subsequent rounds, the candidate will have to confirm the seat by paying the 1st Installment of fee on or before the stipulated deadline else the candidate will be out of the counselling process and will also forfeit the waitlist deposit of Rs. 10,000.

Round 2 – Round 3 (Online)

  • Admitted candidates who wish to upgrade and waitlisted candidates are eligible.
  • Eligible Candidates can fill/modify and save their choices in the order of their preferences, any number of times before the deadline for locking of choices.
  • If a candidate fails to lock the choices within the stipulated time, the last saved choices will be automatically locked after the deadline.
  • Once locked, the choices made cannot be modified, before/after the deadline for that particular round.
  • Candidates are advised to fill in the choices (institutes and branches) of their interest only.
  • Once the seat is allotted as per their choice irrespective of the preferential order (higher or lower), candidates have to accept the seat and complete the admission formalities.
  • If a provisionally admitted candidate gets upgraded to a new branch, the previously allotted branch will be cancelled and the candidate can download the new Provisional Admission order from the counselling portal.
  • If a waitlisted gets a seat allotted for the first time, the candidate must pay Rs. 1,65,000 as 1st Installment before the last date specified for payment for each round. If not paid within the deadline, the candidate will be out of the counselling process and will also forfeit the waitlist deposit of Rs. 10,000.
  • If the admitted candidate rejects the allotted seat, they are required to complete the withdrawal process and the fee will be refunded as per refund policy. The candidate will be out of the counselling process.
  • On rejection of the allotted seat (by Admitted/ Waitlisted candidates), re-entry is possible in any of the subsequent rounds (except in the Intra Institute) by paying the waitlist deposit of Rs. 10,000.

Intra-Institute Sliding Round (Online)

  • After all the regular rounds of counselling, if a vacancy exists, the intra-institute sliding will be conducted for the candidates who have joined the institute and have started attending the classes.
  • In intra-institute sliding, the up-gradation is possible only within the institute and is no possibility of movement across the campus.
  • Interested candidates must register for intra-institute sliding at the respective institute, submit a fresh set of choices and confirm by locking the same.
  • The seat will be allotted to the candidates as per vacancy, MET 2023 rank, and choices.

Spot Round (Online)

  • The vacant seat (if any) after the intra-institute sliding will be filled in the spot round as per MET 2023 Rank.
  • The following candidates are eligible for spot round:

  • All the candidates who wish to participate in the spot round shall register online by paying Rs.10,000 online. If a candidate is not allotted a seat, then the fee collected will be refunded.
  • Note: If there are any vacancies after the spot round, they will be filled based on the JEE (Main) rank.

  7. Copy of Overseas Citizen of India/ Person of Indian Origin card (if applied under OCI/PIO category)
