Overview
Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc), a leading institution of higher learning with a strong tradition of research, offers a four-year Bachelor of Science (Research) Programme which is designed as a balanced blend of core science and interdisciplinary topics to serve as a platform for attractive career opportunities in academia and industry.
The institute conducts institutional level counselling for admission to its B.Sc. programmes. Admissions will be done on the basis of merit in one of the following examinations:-
- KVPY
- JEE (Main)
- JEE (Advanced)
- NEET
- IISER Aptitude Test

NOTE: Students who complete the requirements for the award of the Bachelor of Science (Research) degree will have the option of getting a Master of Science degree by studying at the Institute for a fifth year.

Eligibility
Qualifying Examination
- Candidates must have either completed their 10+2 (or equivalent) examination in 2022 or expecting to complete in 2023.
- Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects during their 10+2 (or equivalent).
- Candidates must have secured a first class or 60% or equivalent grade (relaxed to pass class for SC/ST candidates) in the 10+2 (or equivalent) examination.
Entrance Examination
Candidates must have appeared in one of the following national examinations:

Seat Info
A total of 111 seats are available for Bachelor of Science (Research) course. 10% Supernumerary Quota over and above the approved intake will be provided to women candidates.

Criteria of Selection
- The selection will be based on the performance of the applied candidates in any one of the national examinations (mentioned above).
- A separate merit list of candidates who have applied will be prepared for each of these national examinations and the seats will be offered based on the performance in the respective examination and the number of seats available.
- A candidate who has qualified in multiple examinations listed above will be included in all the appropriate merit lists.
- Separate merit lists will be prepared for candidates belonging to different reserved categories, as per standard Government of India regulations.
Application Fee
The prescribed registration fee for IISc Bangalore Application Form is ₹500 for General/ OBC/ EWS candidates and ₹250 for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates.

- The registration for IISc Bangalore Admissions 2023 will begin on March 15, 2023.
- The last date to register is May 31, 2023.
How to apply
- Visit IISc Bangalore Admissions website and click on “Apply to UG Programme”.
- Click on “New user to register” and create an account.
- Fill the application form with requisite information.
- Pay the application fee online using Net-Banking / Debit / Credit Card.
- Save the confirmation page for future reference.
Counselling
- The Admissions will be done as per the applicable reservation of seats and the Merit Rank in respective Merit List.

Scholarship
Depending on the performance in national examinations such as KVPY, JEE (Main), JEE (Advanced), and NEET, students will be able to avail the standard fellowships offered by agencies such as KVPY and DST-INSPIRE.
